- Stay hydrated! Drink Water before, during, and after you exercise.
- Warm up by moving. Cool down with dynamic (moving) stretches.
- Apply sunscreen before running or walking outside during daylight hours.
- Wear easily visible clothing.
- Choose lightweight, breathable fabrics.
- Make sure your shoes are exercise-appropriate, and your laces are tied.
- Be aware of your surroundings at all times.
- Notify someone of your anticipated route and E.T.A. before you go.
- Take advantage of cooler temperatures, generally early morning and late evening.
- Run or walk with others for safety and fun.
- Limit distractions, i.e. earphones, cell phones, etc. to watch for hazards.
- Run or walk on a surface where you can see holes, divots and level changes.
